Last summer I was enjoying my ice-cream in a hot summer day in Punavuori district. I sat on my longboard in the corner of two big streets and just let people pass me by. Suddenly someone came to me and asked if I was a local in Helsinki. He was from London and had started this art project about locals and tourists in various cities around the world. Maybe I'd be interested to take part? Hell yes!

I was handed a disposable camera, an envelope with an address and enough stamps to London. The assignment was to take pictures of "my Helsinki". Streets, people, what ever I wanted. And once the camera was full, just return it to him via post.

Today I got an email from Pedro, the guy who gave me the camera. The site was up and running! This far they have pictures from Helsinki and Mexico City from both locals and tourist. It's kind of an interesting detail, that most cameras sent back are from tourists. I wonder where all the locals have forgotten their cameras...?

My time in the Helsinki Roller Derby freshmeat training period is close to it's end. We had our last practice last Sunday and our coach and a derby ref Mick Dagger took a pic of our freshmeat group above. Can you find me? Nirvana will be the hint of the day.
This week's Sunday is the doom day number one. We are all taking part to the minimum skills test which is something everyone has to pass in order to start practicing like a real roller derby girl. Tuesday is the doom day number one, the day that I fear the most - a written test about the rules. If I pass both tests, I can be part of a real team, get my derby name (have one picked up already!) and traing with all the other cool athletics in Helsinki Roller Derby. If not, I just have to wait untill the tests are organized again and try again.

Finding the spirit of Christmas

These hectic months haven't had me time to think about Christmas much. Today I suddenly had Christmas kicking me right in the back of my head and instead of going to bed early as planned, I stayed up installing fairy lights on the windowsill, wall and around the doorway. Maybe it was the first snow in Helsinki, blogosphere filled with Christmas themed posts or a lazy evening at home while the Presidental Independence Day reception was on in television. I'm badly missing some warm glogg now, so that will be on my shopping list tomorrow.
Last year I made a Spotify playlist for Christmas with Annik. It's full of tacky Christmas songs, old school classics and some of our random favourites. The playlist is actually quite terrible but does it's job, even after a year long break.
So from today on, my Christmas has started! Next week I'm heading to Stockholm for one day and hopefully get some Xmas shoppings done too. My happiness factor of the day has increased a ton after finding the Christmas spirit. How am I supposed to sleep tonight when there's so much to be joyful of?!

Today is un-official Universe loves Success day. Day that started not so well was saved by the mighty Universe. I've been so lucky today that I'm now concidering buying a lottery ticket. Many happy things happened today, one of them being able to attend a roller derby bootcamp in Stockholm next January!

The title is just a one good piece of an advice I read from the article Never skate with scissors, and other advice for surviving roller derby. The article was a tip I and other new Helsinki Roller Derby's skaters got when we recieved the email, that we were accepted to the Fresh Meat Training Program after last Sunday's try-outs.

I'm becoming a roller derby skater, can you believe it? I still can't! But it will be amazing I'm sure. So far I've attended to an open skate event, an off-skates rehearsals and to try-outs and enjoyed every second. I'm anxiously waiting our very first practice next Sundayr. My three roller derby idols all come from Helsinki Roller Derby's All-Stars Team. Kata Strofi and Bambi CrushBone are teeny tiny, petite ladies with a fierce attitude and amazing skating skills. Suvi Hokkari, a friend of mine who introduced me to roller derby is a scary blocker and someone, I wish never to end up bouting against in the name of my health. Those three are my derby idols and the ones, whose skills I will keep in mind while learning my first steps in roller derby.

But I do have a problem. And it's not a small one and something to take too light hearted. I need a derby name. It has to be cool, witty, whimsical, cute, bad-ass and easy to pronounce. All in one. So if you see the promblem here and have any ideas, please do not hide your wisdom but share it with me! After all, sharing is caring!

Wild Stripes

Que pasa everyone? Hope you've been productive during this amazingly beautiful autumn. I sure have! While doing this and that, I've managed to decorate my home a bit. New vintage bookshelf from 50's and a white flat LED tv makes this teeny tiny place a bit more adult and less child's room. When you love colours as much as I do, it can be bit difficult to decorate a small space without the fear of it looking too childish. After all, I'm close to the dreaded thirties.

Besides bright blinding colors, I'm a huge fan on very minimalistic and graphic black and white look. Combining these two obsessions are easy peasy and so much fun. For my luck, I found out that Weekday Carnival had a -20% sale. I couldn't resist myself from getting the Wild Stripes -print I had been wanting for a while now.
And here it is now! Arrived in a sturdy carboard tube, but softly wrapped in a mint green paper inside for protection. Together with a thank you note from Weekday Carnival's Riikka, it really gave a nice kick-start to my Wednesday.

Holiday

I've been on a summer holiday for the last two weeks. Did nothing and everything, stayed in Helsinki for the whole time except for the one day long leap to the west coast to Turku. I think I've never had this relaxed and energizing holiday in my life.
I've cleaned my home from floor to ceiling (well not quite, but at least I cleaned), bought new bookshelf, sold a lot of crap in Kallio park fleamarket and bought my very first outdoor plants.

Attended to girls only houswarmingparty and had amazingly delicious home made cupcakes, macarons and sushi.

Saw friends at a brunch in Siltanen.

Had a lunch with my hairdresser and a very good friend, who also gave me a new, British football hooligan haircut, which I adore.

Took a pic of myself in Café Bossalina's toilet in Turku and had delicious Russian blinis with honey at the Restaurant Day's pop-up restaurant in Helsinki.

There, that's what I've been up to lately in case you were wondering. And besides all things mentioned above, I also learned to skate with a longboard. Coolest thing ever and so far I have managed to stay in one piece and broke nothing.

- instead of collapsing tent, I get to sleep in my own bed

- even the sold out festival is never too crowded
- great line-up
- peaceful, beautiful and friendly people

Block Party

Finally, Kallio's very first Block Party was held today, thanks to so many volunteers, artist and what ever that worked hard for free, to give us this uniting day in my neighbourhood. I'm bit bummed that the weather wasn't as perfect as it's been for the whole week, but rain or not, lots of people took part in the fun.

There were three stages, one for DJ's and two for varying bands. There was music performances from different genres and something for everyone. Graffiti artists, picnic area, pop-up stores and what else! The stores in Flemingingkatu, the street where all this was mainly focused, were open and having Block Party sales and serving drinks and small snacks.

To see so many beautiful and creative people all gathered together to celebrate this unique and diverse neighbourhood was just a joy. Can't wait for the next one!

SlutWalk arrived to Helsinki today. Almost 4000 people marched with banderolls, shouts and drums. I was there too of course. Rallying together with my friends and Gekko. I'm quite impressed how many people took part despite the rain. I saw many provocative and creative dresses and banderolls and the media seemed to be very interested too. I have only these few crappy pics, I had my hands full with the dog and protecting the camera from the pouring rain.

This is what summer is about. Sun, food and friends. Brunch at Pacifico never fails, the lovely company of Annik never fails. A boat trip to Suomenlinna was an ideal way to spend the rest of the day doing absolutely nothing but laying on the ground and watching the seagulls and passing boats. Now out with Gekko boy to see another friend and listen to the sounds of summer.

PS. Don't you just love my new second hand boots I found from fleamarket? Priced only 2 euros, these worn out leather boots couldn't make me anymore happier.

Hey you darlings. Dispite what it seems, I haven't forgot about you. It's just that summer is only few months long and I don't have time for everything. See there're two damn cute bullterrier pups to kiss and cuddle, hairdresser to go to, parks to lounge at, new friends to meet and parties to go to. Between all that, I try my best to write you a line or two.
What do you think about my new steel grey hair Sirkku did for me at Osos Polares? Pretty rad, don't you think! And the pups? No day can go wrong when you get some paw therapy by kissing these little cutie pies.

Hair inspiration

I should be sleeping already, but I'm stuck lounging at my bed. Cuddling my darling bull terrier and surfing hair inspiration. See, I've been growing out my hair style and now I'm starting to look bit too shabby and need to do something about it asap. I'm still undecided about keeping it short or going for extensions. I love it short and I have the best hair stylist to turn to, but I guess I'm like every other girl in the world. When I had long hair, I wanted it short and now when it's short I want it long.

I've been told that the short suits me better than the long hair and I have to agree. So keeping it short might be the final decicion, but then we have the problem with the haircut. Which way to go? Grow my hair bit more and cut it clean and smart? Or keep looking like an average lesbian or teenage punk and shave the head partly and go wild with the rest? Waaaahhh! The third option would be letting my hair stylist do what ever she wants. That has never failed before so that might be my choise again.

Untill I manage to book an appointment to Osos Polares, I will follow this cool blog called Cut your damn hair. Great inspiration for the ones planning new haircuts.

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there. Today was a day filled with lazy hours under the sun.
Accompanied with the sun, my day also included 1,5 hour long bicycle ride to my parent's house. I had my raddest bike, M.I.A. screaming loud on my iPod, floral dress and the scent of the sea in my nose. Isn't that perfection or what?

And please do forgive my hangover-ish look. It's actually not even that, I just look like shit for multiple other reasons. Well, the health-obsession is about to lift it's hairy head again and I'm going to set my mind to a healthier diet. I might even excercise a bit, who knows.

PS. I know there are some curious little kittens around there, wanting to know more about the mysterious advert I wrote about in my last post. I e-mailed to him and got an response and possibly a meeting to be scheduled soon. And I know I've been lately mostly about girls and I don't feel that's about to change anytime soon. This dude just seemed an intresting person to meet and he is fully aware of my orientation. Maybe I'll get a new friend, that would be cool.
And yes. I almost forgot. This wonderful weird story has one little detail more that I haven't shared with you guys yet. I'm going to keep it a secret for a while still, but trust me, it's absolutely hilarious and quite original in these days.

PPS. Sorry about the soulless flood of Hipstamatic pics. It's just too easy to play with it so I rarely bother to carry my camera with me. Hipstamatic makes cute pics, but I think I'm starting to get bit allergic to them already.

Aften opening my FB account few minutes ago my heart just skipped a beat. On my newsfeed there was a note written into a HellCity Rollers' page where someone was looking for someone he/she saw at the May Day In Hell derby event last weekend. That someone happened to be me. Yikes!

This (what ever it even is) doesn't happen to me. No. Never. But now it did and I'm acting like a chicken. Phew! Breath in, breath out. What to do, what to do, what to do, what to do, what to do? What do normal people do in a situation like this?

Help. Tonight I might need some champagne.

May Day in Hell

This year I had something different planned for May Day. Me and Annik headed to Pasila to see the May Day in Hell International Doubleheadder Roller Derby Bout hosted by Helsinki Roller Derby. This time it was hard to pick a team to cheer for 'cause the teams were formed from players from different teams and countries. And in my case, I had favourites in all teams so I just had to cheer for all of them. What a good sport I am, don't you think?

I must say that watching a sport with aggressive blockers and fast jammers was much more fun than drinking the normal May Day style from morning to next morning. And I'm not saying we stayed fresh and sober all evening, but this was a good start for the celebration.

There. Just days instead of single days. For anyone concidering of getting into a relationship I advise to think again. You'll only get hurt. No matter what good comes out of it, it always ends up someone, possibly you, getting hurt. So I stopped counting, fuck relationships and fuck love. Hello denial and forced happiness. Genuine happiness will be just around the block, untill that I'll just float by and concentrate on everything else except bloody relationships. Not that I'm bitter or anything. Yes, that's sarcasm.

I can not describe my feelings now. It's impossible. I saw Kiddo today and that's the first time after our break up. For me, it seems it's been ages when actually it's hardly been 5 days as the topic already states.
It was good to see her and just not say anything. I feel better or at least different now - just can't describe it.
We talked, but most of the time we just layed on the bed without saying anything and just were there together, mourning our story that's now ended.

With this bit lightened mood now, I'm heading out tonight with friends. I wish it goes well without any setbacks.

I'm being harsh on myself when it comes to work. I want to work hard and I want to keep myself occupied with that in order to avoid the obvious issue here. But there're things I'm more than happy to leave to others and not even bother to think of doing myself. One thing like that is doing the dishes. My only problem is that if I don't do them, no one else will. Unless. Here's when it gets either ridiculously smart or lazy, depending on who you ask from. Why not pay someone to do them for me!

Thank god for friends who study in University and balance between part-time work and full time school and are always short for money. 11pm today a friend of mine came here, did all the dishes, got paid and then shared a fruit salad with me.
My mom will not be proud, but I sure am.

As much as everything sucks right now and getting rid of all the negative feelings that have taken over my body and mind seems impossible, there's still some bright moments in my day.

These were waiting for me when I came home from work today. An old friend of mine had remembered me with some awesomeness. A dishcloth with MJ on it and an air freshener that smells like a chocolate cupcake.

At work I couldn't just sit still for my coffee breaks and let my thoughts run free, so I went to Stadium with my co-worker, just to be her company. I ended leaving the store with these Race Marine shoes. They were cheap and I have a habit of shopping myself happier. So far no success, but I keep trying.

Now back to sulking alone. This might take a while, so you just have to bear with dark-toned posts. Not going to apologize.

Doors open at 8:15pm and the bout starts at 8:45pm.

In the spirit of ongoing Helsinki Ink tattoon convention, here're few pics of my newest tattoo(s).

All of them are done by Daniele Trabucco @ Kabubby tattoo. The pocket watch with Michael Jackson's initials was done last autumn, but we carried on my arm this spring with the bird, cage and some flowers. After finishing my backpiece last August I said I won't be getting any more tattoos or at least for a while. Well, I know better now and won't make such stupid statements. More ink will come but when and what.. who knows.

Btw, at the convention there are several skateboard decks for sale. All decorated by different tattoo artists and the highest bids wins. All the money will go for charity. If I had any extra cash I'd bid for my friend Leena Lumilampi's (Bonafide hki) deck. It's just way too awesome with it's delicate roses and detailed little bird. Sadly, I'm out of extra money so no cute decks for my walls :( In case you have some extra pennies hanging around, go and bid that beauty and help to raise money for good cause.

It's that time again. Time for all the tattoo enthusiasts, tattoo artists and other magical freaks to gather together in Helsinki to get inked, get inspired and enjoy the colourful tattoo scene. Great Finnish and international artists are there to tattoo, talk and take appointments. Sidekick shows all from burlesque to short art fusions and tattoo competitions make sure everyone has something to enjoy.
I was there last year to get inked, this year I'm just taking parts as a tourist. In case you don't have any plans yet for the weekend and you are in the area I highly recommend you to come to Helsinki Ink international tattoo convention to Kaapelitehdas.

Seems like I'm just plain useless when it comes to holding money. After a long strugle I finally fell for the Moomin tea mugs and got myself Nipsu (Sniff) and Sosuli (Fuzzy) mugs. They make a lovely trio with my years old grey Haisuli (Stinky) mug.

Sosuli is the newest addition to Arabia's Moomin collection and she is the mother of Nipsu. I can understand that when looking at him but can you believe Hosuli (Muddler) is supposed to be his father? I have my doubts that there's something Sosuli hasn't told us...

The Hello Kitty mango and vanilla body splashes and cleaning wipes were an impulse purchase from H&M. I usually hate all their Snoopy, Hello Kitty etc. panties, cosmetic products and what ever they have but these just sold themselves to me just by their cute colours. And I was bored. Do I have a problem?

I love Marimekko as you might already know and lately I've bought some new stuff to brighten up my spring. First, the Marimekko ♥ Converse collaboration Kirppu sneakers.

My very first pair of low Converses and even for my own surprise, I love them. I wasn't so sure about that when I was at the store though. So I actually bought two pairs, one high and one low but ended up returning the high ones to the store. "Pikku suomu" pattern just wasn't my thing, not even if it was black and white. It looks nice on everyone else, but my feet looked weird in them.

While returning I took the chance and changed the shoes to something else. After wandering around the store and argueing with myself about which items would be the best purchase at the time I ended up with these.

What a week! I have so much to do and some of them include learning new stuff and it feels I'm just too dumb for all that. New computer program, new phone, calculating stuff I'm not good at... blah. I'm excited about my new iPhone 4 but changing from Nokia to Apple has been bit complicated. If I had time and energy I'd been using it like a pro by now, but I don't, so my iPhone is neclected and can't show all it's potential to me. At least I got Spotify uploaded to it.

Ahhh! Spring fever just gets worse!
Last friday was the Marimekko ♥ Converse -day. At 5pm the shoes were finally and officially in stores and I was among the first ones to get my hands on them. Which ones I picked? Stay tuned, I will post pictures after work! This is what I a) have time to post because of the pics I stole from online and b) am very excited about too.

Ah, they are so cool. I love the white buttons, the shape and the feeling. It was an impulse purchase and I don't regret a bit. Sand isn't usually my color, especially when it comes to trousers, but these work so well with the street style shape, designed just for girls like me. They go well with Dr Martens boots, Converse sneakers, Jeremy Scott sneakers, wedges, heels,... perfect? Yeah, I think so too.

Another impulse shopping happened surprisingly at the backpack section. I forgor my Fjällraven Kånken backpack to J and he seems to be keen on it so I needed a new one for myself.
Few days ago I had too much to carry while running between my work spots so what could be more impropriate excuse for little shopping than going to get a new backpack? I had had my eyes on one from Helsinki10 store but that was way too pricey for my wallet so after a quick debate inside my head I decided to replace my Fjällraven with... Fjällraven. Original. But it's a classic!

Once again we are talking about the fur industry in Finland in the media. A Finnish animal rights organisation Oikeutta Eläimille published a video material from Finnish sertified fur farms where they found lots of sick, injured and stressed animals which weren't getting veterinary care. The organisation filmed the farms secretly for months and saw same animals suffering from severe eye and gum infections month after month.

For anyone in their right mind, any excuses the fur farmers or politicians make to defend the industry are worth shit. It's very simple. I don't give a rat's ass if the animal looks healthy at the fur farm. It's just a simple fact that no wild animal (or other animal for that matter) should live it's life in a 0,8 square meter box. No matter if they are offered such a lavish motivation as a self or a piece of log to chew.

We have Finland's minister of Agriculture and Foresty Sirkka-Liisa Anttila saying that she enjoys her fur coat when it's cold out there but hey.. there are other options! Here's some reference if you don't believe me, I don't believe these guys on top of Mt Everest make any compromises when it comes to dressing up warm. I don't see any fur there, so I think Mrs. Anttila can survive in Finnish winter too without one. Same goes to my grandma, who with I'm always having an argument about this.

It's also been said that forbidding the fur industry raises unemployment, but I have a suggestion then. We could hire the unemployed as puppy beaters? Why not, as long as people are employed it seems an animal abuse industry is ok. Beating puppies is as useless to anyone as wearing a fur is.
Oh but wait, there was another excuse too. China does fur farming even more brutal! So supporting Finnish fur farming is actually supporting animal rights! Yes, I agree, never do anything better than others. Never show an example or follow others (many countries forbade fur farms already) just blame others of their even more shamefull actions and hope no one sees your own. If Chinese kick their foxes twice, it's ok that we only kick ours once. Ok, I understand and rest my case. Long live the animal abuse.. oh sorry.. fur industry!

Mixing

About a month ago I did a survey in some random website about what type of interior designer am I. The result was that my style is classic and I favor quality brands with a long design history. I felt bit weird with the result, because I've always seen myself more like a quirky decorator than a classic one. But then I started to look around me. Marimekko, Eames, IvanaHelsinki, Iittala,.. all internationally well known design brands, hmm.

I still don't agree with the result, but I see now how keen I am to certain classic brands. My Marimekko Räsymatto teapot isn't just a teapot to me. It's a design object that delights me even when it's not in use. My bedsheets are from IvanaHelsinki (with just one exception) and I eat with the classic Mango cutlery designed by Nanny Still. The list just goes on..

Kiddo often says, "It's all about mixing" (quite annoying phrase may I add) and I guess it also applies to my personal style. I'm deeply attached to many classic brands and their products but I like to mix them with my own way to drift founds, cheap Ikea stuff and old vintage furniture. I like graphic black and white patterns, but can still fall for a granny-ish rose patterns, knitted quilts or just a colorful, child-like prints like my Marimekko Dadel curtain.

Some snobbing is still out there. I was recently at the Clas Ohlsson and bumped into some really nice coffee cups. The price was ridiculous 1,95€ each but I just couldn't buy them. No tableware from Ikea or Clas Ohlsson or any other cheap chain like that. Some of the styles were bit of a rip-off from some Marimekko prints, also similar that Ikea is currently selling. Or well, not a rip-off maybe, but just reminded me about the Marimekko tableware just a wee bit too much. Just like the Ikea stuff, too Marimekko rip-off for me. So I left them to the store and am happy with my decicion. I still like them a lot, but just not in my home.

Back to the mixing. This mixing is just perfect for me. A collaboration between Marimekko and Converse! They will be in stores in Helsinki 4th of March and I can't wait to get my hands on them.

New skin routines

All work and no play makes Success a wrinkly girl. So I headed to The Body Shop after work today to get something for my face. I'm very reluctant to accept the fact that I'm slowly and painfully getting closer to my thirties and it's starting to show on my skin. Especially this winter has been hard. My skin type is very dry (BAD news for anyone getting closer to their first real wrinkles) and I'm very lazy to take care of it.

Mostly I think this bad habit of neclecting my skin is from my teens. Where most teens spent hours in front of the mirror panicing about zits, I was lucky to never have that kind of skin problems. Forgotting to wash my face didn't cause tens of red pimples on my face, so why would have I bothered? And this was a rhretorical question, please don't answer, I know the answer already... So maybe I could start by something simple like washing my face and moisturising it regularily.

I want to take things easy. No hard skin care routines that will kill my motivation from the start. Just few bottles of this and that and I'm happy. I already have the Nutriganics face mask and the Vitamin E moisturiser which work well for my skin. So I stayed with those series and added the Nutriganics face washing gel and the Vitamin E mask to my shopping basket today.
None of these are exactly ment to reduce wrinkles but the wrinkle problem is this far mostly in my head and it would be more important to just to take care of my skin rather than panic ridiculously much about wrinkles.

And look what else I found! The Body Shop has a new line of shower gels called Earth Lovers and I just happened to be in need of one. From very exotic choises of scents, I chose the apricot & thyme shower gel. I'm quite happy with this purchase. It was cheap (on sale for 6€), it doesn't include any parabens or other crap, the main ingredient (aloe vera gel) is Fair Trade and even the bottle is made from recycled bottles! Everything inside the bottle is 100% biodegradable. I like.

Going to a city center for a meeting and then waiting few hours to get my bag from repair got expensive for me. Well actually it was cheap as hell - I made some great deals while my consciense was nagging in the back of my head all the time for shopping at H&M and GinaTricot. But I got this excuse that these are just basic garments for my garderobe. All the "real" clothes I still buy either second hand or somewhere um.. less boring.

Those two jumpers look awfully boring in the pic but they are quite nice on. And cost only 9,90€ each! I also bought a flowerprinted dress and a big grey pullover (4,90€, gosh!).

But something that was ment to be just a quick stop at the work meeting and then back home ended up costing me 2 jumpers, 1 pullover, 1 dress, 250g of fine Belgian chocolate from Kaakaopuu-chocolate store, sushi lunch and few pennies for the shoemaker to fix my bag. I also had something in mind for Kiddo's birthday, but couldn't get what I wanted, big boo for that. And I have to be lame and not share what I was going to get her, since she's peeking my blog all the time and that would spoil the surprise.

Anyway, this was just a random and totally pointless post that I felt I needed to write to get over my shame for buying something impulsive and meaningless like this. It totally argues with my decicion to stick mostly to second hand or otherwise quality clothing.

As I've been writing at the RainbowDash blog, I've got a serious spring fever. I've been getting up early in the morning, eaten mostly veggies and fruits and when I have had time I've been emptying my head with some light meditation.

Now instead of gobbling down just fresh fruits and eating veggiesoups and dishes outside, I've started to cook. Cooking itself isn't something radical that people rarely do and should immediately be noted for, but when it comes to me, it apparently is. I thought I spend time in the kitchen at least moderately often but looking at my dog's face.. I'm not. Everytime I've started to cook something healthy, he's disapeared somewhere out of my sight like bathroom or under a chair. His face is full of doubt and it seems he's more worried about my bizzare actions than the cooking, pots and pans or chopping. He only reacts like this when I cook, when it's someone else it seems he's totally ok with it.

I have a theory though. He doesn't like my food. He's quite picky, been since a teeny tiny puppy and I bet he's not impressed at all about all this veggie diet of mine. But, he's a dog, he isn't supposed to understand this. As long as it's good for me and more importantly, delicious! Like these two soups I made today.

Then I add the cream, taste if I need to season the soup more and tadaa, it's done! Easy.

As anyone reading my blog regularily would know, my darling Ex and best friend J often takes any presents bit over the top. This birthday wasn't any exception and I recieved my very first Louis Vuitton.

Also anyone reading my blog might know, I'm not any regular Vuitton girl. I'm not sure if I even was an any kind of Vuitton girl. What would it mean to own one? Would it change my personality, style, image? Well hell yeah it will, it's the day when I officially become an adult. Louis Vuitton equals adults for me.

So I had bit mixed feelings when we went to the Louis Vuitton store today. I had a major outfit crisis beforehand. Part of me wanted to blend in and not be treated bad 'cause I usually look more like a hobo than a someone who would carry designer stuff. Then there was the rebellious part in my head, shouting that I need to look as poor and hobo as possible and feel good about the contrast that ripped jeans, dirty Converse sneakers and posh LV accessory will create.
Some might say I stress too much about just going to a LV store, but for me it was a big deal. My basic controversy about my clothes are if I look too hobo, or too clean. Going to LV for me.. old teenage punk or what ever trashy looking creature you want to call me.. huge step!

But. Now I have it. And it's actually fucking cool! Black monogram multicolor zippy wallet with screaming lime green lining inside. And to top it all, J spoiled me rotten again adding a black multicolor cotton scarf to my prezzie too. So now I'm a LV girl, deal with it. ♥

I had my bday a while ago and last weekend I threw a party for my friends. It was a combined housewarming & bday party. And yeah, I moved over a year ago, but better late than never huh?

The menu was couscous salad, falafels, avocado paste, strawberry/pineapple/marsmallow skewers and banana-chocolate cupcakes with chocolate-coffee icing. It was such a fun night opening lovely presents, making apple and banana scented bubbles, drinking and laughing. Later it was time to hit the town and have a blast at the club. My hair shortened a bit again. The side you see in the pics is the longer one. Other side is completely shaved to 6mm length.

It's so funny to run down my fingers through my hair now. To other direction it feels so smooth and to other it's harsh like a doormat, hahhah! But have to agree my co-worker who said my hair is now a "stroking hair". It's nice to stroke it and it's even nicer when someone else does it.

As promised, I hereby present the coolest of the coolest.. my new sneakers!
A farewell gift from me to myself after leaving the shop owner -life behind. I thought I needed something extra special and these Jeremy Scott for Adidas sneakers were pretty much a perfect choise. The wings also happen to symbolise leaving, so I think they made a perfect gift for the occasion.

With these wings, I'm feeling bit more confident to fly towards all the new things future will hold for me, what ever they might be.

♥ Getting a note from the post office, that my DVD-order has arrived. Which actually makes me realize I still haven't introduced the previous parcel I mentiod before! Gonna do that soon, promise.

Sounds like a perfect day, but behind the scenes there are bit too much going on and I'm seriously in need of a break. Break from everything, but I'd appreciate any sort of breaks offered. That Hokusai's "Mt. Fuji off Kanagawa" piece above pretty much decribes how it is inside my head ATM. Hope it passes soon 'cause it sucks.

Less than 2 weeks to go and I will jump from owning my own business to working part-time. I have my reasons for it, but more about that later. The reason why I tell you this now, has something to do with less career focused reasons / goals / hopes.

While stressing out millions of different things, I haven't had the time to focus on myself and I have come to realize that even that I love people with distinctive style, I no longer have one. I've become boring.

Soon I will have few day-offs every week and more time to be creative or even put some effort to my looks. I will start with small steps. Make up. Every day, outcluding serious slacking-off-at-home days. My new job won't be the ideal place to start paying attention to my looks, but I will save my efforts outside work.

This will be one of my lists for 2010.

[ ] Wear make-up every day, even if it means just evening your skin tone with some foundation.
[ ] Try new things with make-up, experiment.
[x] Cut a new fringe.
[ ] Wear a vintage slip as a home gear as often as possible.
[ ] Find ways to wear the same vintage slip outside the house.
[ ] Learn to find treasures from thrift stores and fleamarkets.
[ ] Sew, customise, modify, craft.
[ ] During warm seasons, wear less jeans and more skirts & shorts.
[ ] Learn to use over the knee socks without looking like a teenage goth / punker.
[ ] Accept the shape of your face even if it isn't your favorite.
[ ] Learn to be comfortable in front of camera.
[ ] Pay more attention to your hair, ponytail isn't the only option out there!

My lists for example included parts:

The "Less"-part is a desperate attempt to keep my mind focused on the fact that I'm constantly broke and shouldn't really buy stuff that I don't really need. I want to focus on things that I really need and will enjoy longer.

I have been very good with that one! Started already and this bike, the coolest bike on the fucking planet, will soon be mine!!! Oh I'm in looooove and can't wait to get it home! It's a magical rainbow bike and I'm going to rule the streets of Helsinki with that beauty starting next spring. Also if you look closer, my Rainbow wonder has no speeds which means I'm gonna have hell of a muscles too by the end of the summer.

Like the rest of the world (by the looks and lenghts of the lines to the fitting rooms) I also took part to the after Xmas sales mania. I got few gift cards to spend and managed to find stuff that makes me very happy.

A long black cardigan, blue transparent(-ish) basic t-shirt, petrol blue long-sleeved (also transparent-ish) t-shirt, teal basic heels, thick black leggings and neon yellow & pink nailpolishes also found their ways to my shopping bag. Very satisfied.

I've been wearing that CTRL skirt since and I love it. It's so comfy and I don't mind at all that it's blue. Or that two of the shirts I bought are blue. Even the teal colored heels are semi-blue, 'cause I think teal belongs to blues as well as greens. And the point here? I DON'T LIKE BLUE! But apparently I have blue phase going on now and I try to learn to appreciate it. After all the shades of blue actually go well with my red hair. Hello to the new color in my wardrobe, hello to brave me!

2009 tightly wrapped up

That sticker pretty sums up the year 2009.

It's a bloody victory that I'm still alive and somewhat have my marbles together, but yet nothing still makes sense and everything is constantly changing. Changing so much and so often, that I'd rather have some peace and stability in my life for a change now. One year already passing is such an unbelievable thought. It's been such a rollercoaster and full of ups and (mostly) downs. Feels like everything is going on so fast pace that I don't have even time to breath.

So what I got in 2009?

- New home

- Many many funny memories

- Minus few kilos though which I gained back during Xmas

- Amazing amount of energy that kicked me through this year

- New friends

- Tattoo project started

- Trips to Sweden

And what about the losses?

- Relationship x 2 (same relationship though..)

- Michael Jackson

- Proper moving to Sweden

- Not completed in 2009 but the countdown to the last day of my shop has now begun

- My bike

- My mind

- My My Little Pony -collection, that is currently on sale 'cause of lack of time & space.

So goodbye 2009. It's been a scary year, but also life-changing and very educational. New things coming up in 2010 and I'm very much looking forward to it. I'm all set up, my brand new Moleskine Weekly Notebook is ready to go and nothing can stop us!

I thought I was done with piercings and didn't want more of them, or even liked them that much anymore. Well cool pics do wonders no matter what's the subject.
I still have my niebühr bridge and 12mm lobes on ears, but nipple piercings have been gone for few months now after I got bored of them. I'm now thinking if I should stretch the ears bit bigger, say 14mm or max. 16mm. Let's see what happens to that, if anything.

Sorry for the lame posting pace, there's lots going on "behind the scenes" and I haven't had really time to think about blogging. Anyways, I'm finally starting to get a bit into a holiday mood, here's few pics from yesterday when A (not in pics, she was behind the cam) and K came to my place to eat some Xmas pastries and hot chocolate.

I had a discussion with my dad about the dishes served in the Christmas table this year and I'm very happy that he agreed not to have the traditional ham this year. Also the turkey will be left out and we will only have reindeer and fish as meat.

I will spend my whole Xmas at my parent's place and try to relax as much as possible. I'm looking forward to the Xmas sauna, porrige, decorating the tree, all the foods and of course the presents. I will take my hoop and laptop with me and hope to have enough room to hoop a bit there in the superior company of Spotify.

And after the Xmas is over, my eyes will be set straight forward to summer! There will be so much happening in this spring (yes, spring starts in January, don't even try to argue about this one with me!) that the summer will be here before we realize and I have no complaints about that! Horray!

The concept 'after work' is familiar to many - few cheap drinks at the bar early in the evening to clear the head after long day at work. Well, we modified the concept a bit and had 'after tattoo'. We didn't include the parts of the concept that says few, cheap or early. Or maybe the word early can be part of this, since we stayed up drinking till 10am. At least us girls did, men are just so crappy drinkers and pass out way too easily.

After tattoo's after party at the first stop (out of 3), J's place. Only place where we took pics, which might be a good thing after all.

Eeek! Look at these bed sheets from Sueños, how freaking adorable they are! I have a soft spot for crazy bed sheets. I'm not a girl that fancies to get her beauty sleep under a red/purple/choose-any-fatal-or-"sexy"-color silky blanket, head placed on a frilly heart-shaped pillow, oh no. I want them funky and funny with nice designs plz.

Check the Sueños website. Not all as cool as these, some way too tacky and boring for my taste, but still, some of them are fabulous!

This morning I woke up after refreshing 11 hour sleep and saw a SMS I'd gotten while sleeping. It was from A and after a quick call I was told to come out in 30minutes. So quick jump to shower and out to see what she's up to. She drove to my door, stoped the car and gave me a package. I was told that she got inspired by my blog post yesterday. Clueless of what's going on I went back in and opened the present and found this colorful happy ribbon she'd crafted for me!
And what does it have to do with my previous blog post, well read yourself - I KICK ASS!!!
I'm so happy, this totally made my day. Now I can wear it at work and I'm now thinking a place on the wall behind the desk, where I can hang the ribbon during times when I don't have it on.

Me amongst many others judge people easily by their appearance and also get judged by it ourselves too. It's not very rare that the way people see you is still totally different than the way you see yourself and that's often the case with me.
I concider myself as small, quiet and easily timidated person without any so-called street credibility. But yet I often ran into comments about me and about how scary I am or something like that and that really amazes me. Who the hell can be scared of 159cm tall skinny girl with eyes similar to the deer that's going to get hit by a car?!

I do have my other side which is very talkative and active and I can be also firm if needed, but let's just say that those features are not something I am used to and I'm still learning..
And once again I got a reminder of how small and non-scary I am after having 4 gypsie men robbing my shop last night. There was simply nothing I could do to stop them. Just stand there fully aware of what they are doing and just wait and hope they'd leave as soon as possible. Nothing happened to me and they "only" took stuff worth about 250e, but the feeling that you can not do anything to stop this happening again makes you feel pretty helpless. And I keep wondering that if I'd look different would it be less easier for them to try something like this (which propably wouldn't, they knew exactly what they were doing and did it like pros).

By that I don't mean any particular feature that I wish I had more in my looks, just the general kick-ass attitude look could maybe do the trick.

My visit to Sweden was once again succesfull and relaxing.
Dogs, lovely people, Stockholm, food, spikemats, tea, puppy smell & kisses, Swedish countryside, a shop organized totally by color, chocolate factory, Sergels Torg & Stockholm, missed flight, sleeping in airport, autumn colors and once again.. puppy kisses. ♥

Last night was amazing! I learned the whole 6 minute long dance and danced it with 89 other zombies in the railwaystation of Helsinki. The fact that makes me the most proud is, that I have zero, I repeat ZERO, dancing experience nor skills and despite that I managed to learn the dance and take part to this amazing event.

So ladies and gentlemen, Thrill The World 2009, Helsinki Finland!!!

These are my new winter boots, a gift from J. They are perfect and done by no less than the legendary boot maker Pekka Lahti from Boot Factory!
I've been eyeing bikers for a long time and now I got my very own pair. ♥ And I'm very happy about the fact, that now that I finally have biker boots, they are not just any soulless pair of bikers but hand made with love and 95% Finnish. At least I think they are made with love, since Lahti has been making boots almost 30 years!
Thanks babe, now my toes won't freeze in winter! ♥
